Document Delivery

Find more information about Document Delivery and answers to common questions.

Faculty Deliveries

Unless otherwise specified, we are happy to deliver items requested through Document Delivery to your departmental office. Faculty deliveries are sent out from our office at 10 am and 2 pm every weekday.

When you are done with your items, you or your departmental secretary can request items to be picked up through the Faculty Delivery & Pickup by logging into your Document Delivery account and selecting "Schedule a Pickup." Once a pickup has been scheduled, please make sure the items to be picked up are in the agreed upon pickup location in your departmental office.

If you have questions about your delivery options or would prefer to pick up your items, please contact our office for more information.

Faculty Purchase Requests

Faculty members may request items to be purchased for the library through the Document Delivery request page.

The criteria for purchase are as follows:

  • The item must be published within the last 10 years.
  • The item must be less than $150.00.
  • The item cannot be part of an ongoing series.
  • Introductory textbooks cannot be purchased.

Items outside of these criteria will be routed to Borrowing to be requested from another library. If you feel an item outside of the criteria would be beneficial for the collection, you are welcome to suggest the item to your area's personal librarian.

Who is a Distance Patron?

Distance patrons may have items shipped to them at no additional cost.

You may qualify as a Distance patron if you are one of the following:

  • Participating in distance education with Texas Tech University.
  • A student still enrolled but no longer in residence. This may include a graduate student working on a thesis or dissertation.
  • On an internship approved by the university.
  • On a research or study abroad trip approved by the university.
  • A faculty member on long term research, development or teaching projects away from the main campus.

To begin receiving Distance services, login to your Document Delivery account and change your status to "TTU Distance" under Tools > Change User Information. Once you have done this, please verify that your mailing address is correct.

If you move or return to Lubbock, please make sure to update your contact information accordingly.

Returning Distance Items

Once done with the books requested, please contact our office with the weight in pounds of the package you will be sending. If you are unable to give an exact weight, an approximate weight is acceptable.

When we get that information, we will email a FedEx shipping label to your Texas Tech email address as soon as possible.

Once you have received the email, follow the link and print out the shipping label.

Attach the label to the package and drop it off at any FedEx location.
