Texas Tech University Libraries has over 40,000 ejournals and 400 databases. The journals provided on this guide are just a glimpse of titles related to Mexican American & Latina/o Studies. Databases cover a wider range of information. Though there are a few listed on the guide that focus on Spanish language and wider international view, they are not the only databases that would cover topics in this area. Students may find information on the Mexican American & Latina/o Studies in subject specific databases.

Includes over 67,000 records from more than 2,400 journals and other resources including newspapers, books and book chapters. The database provides coverage dating back to the 1960s and selective indexing dating back to the early 1900s. Subject coverage includes art, bilingual education, education, labor, literature, mental health, law, poetry, politics and sociology.

CRL's Home Page (which provides access to the Center's Main Catalog) is a great starting point for research on any topic (including Latin America). In addition to this, the Guide to Materials in the Latin American Materials Project (LAMP) points to many collections that CRL has helped to develop. The PAIS International database contains continually updated records for over half a million journal articles, books, government documents, statistical directories, grey literature, research reports, conference papers, web content, and more. Newspapers and newsletters are not indexed. PAIS International includes publications from over 120 countries throughout the world. In addition to English, some of the indexed materials are published in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and other languages. It is updated quarterly with over 17,000 current records added in total each year.

South Plains Genealogical Society
South Plains Genealogical Society (SPGS) began on April 8, 1961 when the Nancy Anderson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented a workshop at the old YMCA building on Broadway and realized the interest in genealogical research. Members and other people lent their time and books to help others to begin tracing their family trees. The first regular meeting of SPGS was held on May 19 at the Lubbock City Library. By November of the same year there were 126 charter members. With the help of donations and dues, SPGS began a collection of data for genealogists and by December of 1961 SPGS was given a bookcase in the Lubbock City Library. In the years that have followed, the collection has grown to include thousands of books and an extensive microfilm and compact disk collection. October 1990, SPGS became a nonprofit corporation.

Chicana/Latina Studies Chicana/Latina Studies: The Journal of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social is an interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed, biannual flagship publication of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social (MALCS). This feminist Chicana/Latina and Indigenous academic organization is dedicated to building bridges between community and university settings, transforming higher education, and promoting new paradigms and methods. The Journal publishes groundbreaking interdisciplinary scholarship creative works by and about Chicanas/Latinas and Indigenous women of the Americas and is receptive to all scholarly methods and theoretical perspectives that examine, describe, analyze, or interpret our experiences. English and/or Spanish submissions of scholarship, commentary, reviews, and creative writing are accepted.
Chiricú Journal: Latina/o Literatures, Arts, and Cultures Chiricú Journal: Latina/o Literatures, Arts, and Cultures is a peer-reviewed humanities journal that provides a critical as well as creative space for Latina/o scholarship and cultural expression. Conceived as a venue for fiction, poetry, art, and criticism, Chiricú Journal highlights transnational flows of language and culture in the Americas, and accepts submissions in English, Spanish, or Portuguese. Hispanic Review The Hispanic Review is a quarterly journal devoted to research in Hispanic literary and cultural studies. Published since 1933 by the Department of Romance Languages at the University of Pennsylvania, the journal features essays and book reviews on the diverse cultural manifestations of Spain and Latin America, from the medieval period to the present.

Consistent with the mission of NLPA, the focus of the journal is to advance knowledge about Latina/o Psychology through empirical and theoretical scholarship.
Latin American & LatinX Visual Culture Latin American and Latinx Visual Culture is a quarterly peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing the most current international research on the visual culture of Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean, as well as that created in diaspora. A defining focus of the journal is its concentration of current scholarship on both Latin American and Latinx visual culture in a single publication. Latin American Theatre Review The Latin American Theatre Review (LATR) is published twice per year by The University of Kansas' Department of Spanish and Portuguese and the Center of Latin American Studies. Founded in 1967, LATR covers all aspects of Latina/o and Latin American theatre and performance and is one of the premiere scholarly journals in its field.
Latino Studies Latino Studies is an international, peer-reviewed journal. Studies in Spanish & Latin American Cinemas This peer-reviewed journal explores the cinemas of Spain and Spanish-speaking South, Central and North America, including the Caribbean and Brazil. Maximizing the opportunities for contact between academic disciplines such as media, film studies, Latin American, Hispanic and postcolonial studies, the journal encourages an inter-cultural and interdisciplinary focus.
US Latina & Latino Oral History Journal The US Latina & Latino Oral History Journal is a research publication created to mine, showcase, and promote the rich field of oral history as it relates specifically to the US Latina and Latino experience. Manuscripts are blind peer-reviewed and represent best practices of oral history and the highest research standards. The University of Texas Press publishes the journal for UT Austin's Center for Mexican American Studies (CMAS) with support by the Voces Oral History Project at the university's School of Journalism. Maggie Rivas-Rodriguez, UT professor of journalism, is the journal's founding editor.
Voces: A Journal of Chicana/Latina Studies A precursor to Chicana/Latina Studies journal, Voces is peer-reviewed, biannual publication of Mujeres Activas en Letras y Cambio Social (MALCS). Bilingual Education Journals

Bilingual research journal The Bilingual Research Journal is the National Association for Bilingual Education’s premier scholarly, peer-reviewed research publication. Bilingual Research Journal delivers in-depth coverage of education theory and practice, dealing with bilingual education, bilingualism, and language policies in education.
Bilingual review Academic journal focusing on the linguistic, cultural and literary diversity of cultures in contact, especially within Latino communities in the US. The Bilingual Review/Revista Bilingüe publishes both empirical (qualitative and quantitative) as well as creative scholarship. The BR/RB will feature empirical research in the areas of bilingualism, applied linguistics, the social context of minority education, and ethnic scholarship. To engage the readership with multiple forms of representation, we seek out scholarly activity expressed through the literary and visual arts. The BR/RB accepts a variety of genres including scholarly articles, short stories, poetry, literary criticism, and book reviews, in English or Spanish.
International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching International Review of Applied Linguistics in Language Teaching (IRAL) is devoted to problems of general and applied linguistics in their various forms. Journal of second language writing The Journal of Second Language Writing is devoted to publishing theoretically grounded reports of research and discussions that represent a significant contribution to current understandings of central issues in second and foreign language writing and writing instruction. Research in the Teaching of English Research in the Teaching of English (RTE) is a broad-based, multidisciplinary journal composed of original research articles and short scholarly essays on a wide range of topics significant to those concerned with the teaching and learning of languages and literacies around the world, both in and beyond schools and universities.
Studies in Second Language Acquisition Studies in Second Language Acquisition is a refereed journal of international scope devoted to the scientific discussion of acquisition or use of non-native and heritage languages. Each volume (five issues) contains research articles of either a quantitative or qualitative nature in addition to essays on current theoretical matters. Other rubrics include shorter articles such as Replication Studies, Critical Commentaries, and Research Reports.
TESOL Journal TESOL Journal (TJ) is a refereed, practitioner-oriented electronic journal based on current theory and research in the field of TESOL. TJ is a forum for second and foreign language educators at all levels to engage in the ways that research and theorizing can inform, shape, and ground teaching practices and perspectives. Articles enable an active and vibrant professional dialogue about research- and theory-based practices as well as practice-oriented theorizing and research.
TESOL Quarterly TESOL Quarterly, a professional, refereed journal, was first published in 1967. The Quarterly encourages submission of previously unpublished articles on topics of signiﬁcance to individuals concerned with English language teaching and learning and standard English as a second dialect. As a publication that represents a variety of cross-disciplinary interests, both theoretical and practical, the Quarterly invites manuscripts on a wide range of topics.
