Canon VIXIA HF M500 Quick Start Guide

Step 1  Charge Battery

  1. Plug power adapter into electrical outlet
  2. Connect power adapter to DC IN terminal

ON/OFF (CHG) indicator lights red in color while battery is charging

Charging is complete when the indicator is extinguished

Connect camera to power adapter and electrical outlet

 

Step 2  Insert Memory Card

  1. Make sure the camera is off.
  2. Open memory card slot cover.
  3. Insert the memory card into the slot with the label facing away from the camera.
  4. Close the card slot cover.

Step 3  Recording in AUTO mode

  1. Press POWER button to turn camera on
  2. Press HOME button
  3. Set the camera to AUTO mode
  • Touch the LCD screen
  • Touch Camera Mode
  • Touch AUTO
  • Touch OK
  1. Press the START/STOP button to begin recording
  2. Press the START/STOP button again to pause/stop recording

Step 4  Playback

  1. Press the CAMERA/PLAY button to access video 
  2. Look for the scene you want to play back
  3. Touch the desired scene to play it back

Step 5 Saving movies to a computer

  1. Power the camcorder using the compact power adapter.
  2. Open the desired movie index screen.
  3. Use the provided USB cable to connect the camcorder to a computer.
  4. On camcorder LCD screen touch [All (for PC only)].
  5. Use the computer to open the camcorder folder and copy the file(s) to your computer.

Step 6  Delete video

  1. Play back the scene to be deleted
  2. Touch the screen to display the playback controls and touch pause 
  3. Touch Edit
  4. Touch Delete
  5. Touch Yes
  6. Touch OK
