First Gen Journey Podcast is dedicated to providing validation, support, and inspiration for first generation college students and professionals. Join us for funny, interesting, and heartfelt tales from first generation college students and professionals who are living their success stories.

Follow Pa Vue, a first-generation college student, as she shares stories from her journey to pursue a PhD. From taking the GRE to defending her dissertation, you’ll hear all about how she navigates every step of graduate school. This podcast is perfect for educators, individuals interested in going to grad school, and, of course, first-generation college students.

Dr. Jacquelyn Thomas-Miller, Director of Advising and Retention, is host of a new series of podcasts aimed at first generation college students in the College of Education. The series, FirstGenMe, covers a variety of topics useful to all students and features guest interviews with faculty and staff from the College of Education.

This podcast's mission is to create an archive of discussions with and about first-generation student experiences in and out of the classroom. They hope to continue raising awareness and understanding, provide voice for students and alum as well as present resources for faculty, staff and students working for and collaborating with first-generation students.

n its most simple terms, first generation students are the first in their families to attend college. According to the Center for First-Generation Student Success, “nearly 33% of students attending college or universities in the United States are first-generation.” High school counselors have an incredibly powerful role to fill to support and empower first generation students on their journeys to post secondary success!

A podcast dedicated to the TRIO programs across the United States and its territories. TRIO programs are federally funded outreach initiatives that promote college access, equity, and success. The podcast highlights stories from staff, participants, alumni, and advocates from various TRIO programs (Educational Talent Search, Upward Bound, Upward Bound Math/Science, Veteran’s Upward Bound, Student Support Services, McNair Program, Equal Opportunity Centers).
