Cordelia E. Barrera is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at Texas Tech University and Co-Chair of the Literature of Social Justice and the Environment initiative at TTU. She specializes in Latinx literature, the American Southwest, and multiethnic speculative literatures. Her work highlights the need to disrupt mythologies of the American West by incorporating border voices and concentrates on the literature of social justice and the environment. Her book, The Haunted Southwest: Towards an Ethics of Place in Borderlands Literature was published in 2022 by TTU Press. Her current book project explores utopian forms and social dreaming on the borderlands.
