Library COVID-19 Response: Overview

This guide is to help Texas Tech Library patrons understand the Libraries' response to the current COVID-19 pandemic.


The Texas Tech Libraries are working diligently to keep our patrons safe during the current pandemic. Use this page as a resource to understand what the Libraries are doing to ensure the cleanliness and overall preparedness of the Texas Tech Libraries. We encourage you to check back regularly for updates as changes are implemented.

**This guide is a work in progress and changes will be made frequently.**

Library Health and Safety Guidelines

For the health and safety of all library patrons please follow the guidelines below:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds―especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
    • Note: Additional hand sanitizer stations are located throughout the Library.
  • Avoid close contact. Practice social distancing by maintaining 6 feet of space from others.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.

These services are currently available for patrons.

  • Ask a Librarian for help by chat, text, email, and remote consultations
  • Document Delivery article delivery
  • Online resources 
  • Inside the building
    • Computer workstations
    • Study tables
    • Browse the collection
  • Curbside pickup for physical items from the TTU collection (starting July 13)
    • To schedule a curbside pickup, place your request using the Document Delivery webpages. Come to the library and park in the temporary 15-minute parking spot and call (806) 742-2239. We will bring your items out to you. Please make sure you have your Texas Tech ID.

Library Services Temporarily Closed

In an effort to provide a safe environment, these services are not available at this time.

  • Laptop checkout
  • Equipment checkout (such as cameras, projectors, etc.)
  • Group study rooms
  • Individual study rooms
  • Interlibrary loan is not loaning physical materials from other libraries
  • No in-person events or workshops are scheduled
  • ARC: Arts Research Collaboratory
  • Sam's Express @ Library

Due Dates for Checked Out Items

Due Date for TTU books checked out from the Texas Tech Library collection is currently:
September 10, 2020 - for all patrons except faculty
*Curbside check outs will have this due date.*

Due Date for books checked out during the spring semester through Document Delivery is:
August 17, 2020 - for all patrons

Due to the current conditions, we are suspending fines for overdue items.
