Make with SOLIDWORKS, 07-21-25 (recording)

Workshop Description and Objectives

Welcome to the Make with SOLIDWORKS workshop rerun (originally held 7-21-25).
Hosted by the Texas Tech University Library Makerspace's very own Sean W Scully.

We take a brief tour highlighting 3D printing and the world of CAD programs.
Then we jump feet-first into playing with SOLIDWORKS with an eye for exporting our creations for 3D printing.

No experience necessary, all ages and skill-levels are welcome!

Objectives

  • Have a working grasp of beginner-level CAD vocabulary (i.e. sketch, extrude, draw, mirror, scale, etc.).
  • Be able to import and perform basic modifications to an existing CAD object in .STL and .SLDPRT format.
  • Be able to compose an original model in SOLIDWORKS.
  • Educate students on Library Resources for 3D printing.
