Workshop Description and Objectives

Join us in the "circuit playground" as we leap from sensor to sensor and program a simple game with buttons, lights and sound. This workshop will feature Microsoft's MakeCode (a free, Scratch-like, and web-based block-code language). We will be interacting with Adafruit's feature-packed programming board the Circuit Playground Express (CPX).

Each student will have hands-on experience programming a microcontroller, writing code, reading sensors, and playing with pushbuttons, lights and sound.

No experience necessary, all ages and skill-levels are welcome!

Objectives

  • Learn basic programming vocabulary using MakeCode (block programming): loop, function, variable, etc.
  • Learn to program a Circuit Playground Express microcontroller board.
  • Utilize sensors, speaker, and Neopixel LEDs to explore a basic game.
  • Educate students on Library Resources for programming.

Join Us for Future Workshops!
