Workshop Description and Objectives

Join us in the "circuit playground" as we leap from sensor to sensor and program a simple game with buttons, lights and sound. This workshop will feature the offline Code with Mu app (a free, simple python editor) and an experimental online IDE. We will be interacting with Adafruit's feature-packed programming board the Circuit Playground Express (CPX) using a version of Python designed for microcontrollers, called CircuitPython.

Each student will have hands-on experience programming a microcontroller, writing code, reading sensors, and playing with pushbuttons, lights and sound.

No experience necessary, all ages and skill-levels are welcome!

Objectives

  • Learn basic programming vocabulary using Mu and CircuitPython (Python for microcontrollers): loop, function, variable, etc.
  • Learn to program a Circuit Playground Express microcontroller board.
  • Utilize sensors, speaker, and Neopixel LEDs to explore a basic game.
  • Educate students on Library Resources for programming.

Join Us for Future Workshops!
