Personal Librarian for Media & Communication

Hello, I am the personal librarian for the College of Media & Communication. Students, staff, or faculty are welcome to visit in person, by email, or by phone for any library or research questions. 

So what do personal librarians do?

  • help with any questions you have about the library
  • help you find articles, books, and other resources
  • help you request materials through Document Delivery/Interlibrary Loan 
  • help you create citations and use citation style guides
  • help distance students navigate library resources

Helpful Search Terms & Tips

Find books and other resources in Journalism.

These subject heading phrases work in Library Search and also in many databases which have a thesaurus function which can help you find similar terms. Remember to sort your library catalog results by 'publication date newest' to display the most recent items.

  • Ethics in journalism, technology & journalism, predatory
  • Types of journalism: investigative, news, review journalism, column journalism, writing journalism
  • Medium of journalism: print, broadcast, multimedia and internet

Use  terms, such as these, in context of what you are searching within your area of research. For example: impact of news on (demographic: Hispanics, Asian-Americans, elderly, etc.).

Use AND, OR, or NOT to limit results to include specific geographic areas, years, or other demographic.
