TTU-CR Citation Central

This guide has the purpose to provide a basic guideline in the different forms of citation and software for the TTU-CR students and faculty.

Plagiarism = using someone else's words, ideas, or artistic work as if it was your own.

Avoid plagiarism by following these steps:

  • Quote other's words accurately
  • Place quotation marks at the beginning and end of each quoted phrase or sentence
  • Add in-text/parenthetical citations at the end of every quoted or paraphrased information
  • Use signal phrasing to smoothly and clearly provide author or creator names
  • Provide the full bibliographic citation in a list at the end of your paper, project, or presentation

Paraphrasing Tips and Definitions:

  • Using ideas and information from another source but restating it in your own way
  • Requires that you change more than just a few words
  • Like with quotations, give credit to the original source in a parenthetical citation
  • Provide the full bibliographic citation in a list at the end of your paper, project, or presentation
  • Read examples of how authors paraphrase others' ideas and information in articles
