TTU-CR Citation Central

This guide has the purpose to provide a basic guideline in the different forms of citation and software for the TTU-CR students and faculty.

Why Cite Your Sources?

  • Professional honesty and courtesy: writers have an obligation to indicate when they have used someone else's ideas or words.
  • Citing sources strengthens the authority of your work - it demonstrates that you have engaged other thinking on the subject you are writing about.
  • Helps to justify your arguments.
  • Accurate citations help others locate the materials you used so that they can read more about that piece of information or to use it in their own writing.
  • To ensure compliance with the Texas Tech University Statement of Academic Integrity and avoid plagiarism (a form of cheating or academic dishonesty).
