Academic Freedom
TTU-CR, a teaching-focused campus, values the academic freedom of each instructor and fosters independent expertise within a standard of service and institutional philosophy. Additional pages in this section explain essential administrative functions of all teaching faculty.
You are encouraged to:
- Use personal expertise in how you teach content that supports campus-wide initiatives, accreditation standards, and assessment measures
- Adapt and adopt rubrics to measure student learning in written and oral communication according to English language standards
- Incorporate active learning whenever possible
- Consistently use the learning management system (Blackboard) and early warning/student progress tracking system (Strive/Starfish)
- Teach with a student-first approach, thus being available for office hours to support student learning in and out of the classroom
